Nic Model ALU-HALO from the Year 2003 |
The
Barcelona production company Cromosoma (which
has owned the industrial and commercial rights of the Cine
Nic patent for years), with the advice and
the encouragement of the Museu del Cinema-Col·lecció
Tomàs Mallol, is presenting a new model of the Cine
Nic projector. And although it upholds the
operating principles and unmistakable concept of the original
device entirely, this projector improves and updates the product
in every sense in order to offer it to today's public. This
reproduction of the Cine Nic
was designed by Santi Giró of A&D studio. He received
an award in the 23rd annual International Design contest of
“Expohogar”, 2003.

Following
the line of constant renovation handed down by the founders
of the company, the new model is based now on an extruded tube
of mechanised aluminium, and it has two ventilated halogen light
bulbs. The mechanisms have been optimised and the optics perfected,
in order to achieve a wide focal distance. It is also the sturdiest,
most reliable, and safest model manufactured by Cine
Nic to date: the lightest, largest projection,
a machine that doesn't heat up, a handle and engaging gear lever
that work precisely, not to mention that the device also has,
separate from the machine, a 12-V transformer that guarantees
safety during use. Although it is a new design, the product
calls to mind the air and the style of the legendary Cine
Nic family. |

The
band format chosen for the new model is the Super, the widest
one. Therefore, all of the old Super Nic films can be seen
with this device. Also, Cromosoma, in collaboration with the
Museum of Cinema-Tomàs Mallol Collection, is bringing
out a selection of old films, as well as new titles, various
films to finish drawing and painting, and other blank ones
to stimulate the users' creativity. At the same time, it is
publishing an author's series (Nic Art) open to previously
unpublished contributions by various artists who, through
making original films with the Nic system, will help to spread
this type of filmmaking, and to awaken the interest of adult
audiences in this new mode of plastic expression.
